I am sure most of you have seen or heard of this picture by now.
TTC rider Jason Wieler took that picture at McCowan station on January 9th at 10 pm. He later tweeted the image and Sleepy John Doe here has become famous. Some life eh! Get paid $100,000, sleep on the job, and if you ever don’t like how things are laid out for you….go on strike. I am tired of shelling out 100 + dollars a month so that Sleepy John Doe can sleep away. I understand we all slack off at work and TTC employees hardly get breaks but this is not just a solitary case. Last night on the news I watched TTC head Adam Giambrone reveal several more pictures of TTC collectors sleeping on the job. He said they were “under investigation”. Yeah, as if. I am sure all the culprits such as Sleepy John Doe will get a slap on the wrist and worst comes to worst they will be given street car/bus/train shifts.
Positively, what the TTC can do is introduce a 20-minute-break period where the collector gets to take a power nap and everyone who want to enter the subway….can enter for free within this period! It would be the perfect loyalty incentive for its disgruntled customers, including yours truly.
