O Canada! Why have you changed :-( says Michael Moore

Apparently filmmaker Michael Moore is not so pleased with Canada for not openly accepting American war resisters. Moore, who is in Toronto for the Toronto International Film Festival, said the following in an interview:

"It is absolutely shameful how Canada has behaved toward those who have resisted this [Iraq] war. It's not the Canada we used to know.
This country was so generous to those of my generation who did not want to kill the Vietnamese, and they opened the border."

Well Mr. Moore, at a time of national and global economic uncertainty, American war dodgers are the least of our concerns. Not to forget, we have to be constantly prepared for boat loads of uninvited guests from a little South Asian nation. There is also our OWN troops involved in YOUR fight to worry about. And lastly, what irks me is your foolish comments about Canada’s borders being open to people of your generation but not to the current war dodgers. Well, sir, I am sure you are aware of the fact that the draft system does not exist in the US Army anymore. The resisters that were welcome to our country in the past had no choice but to fight. Unlike the men and women of today who are very willing to sign up for your Armed Forces but back out when it comes to actual fighting. Hence, do you not see why our doors are not completely open for these deserters?
So what if we are not the same Canada that you used to know. In fact, I don’t even think you knew us that well in the first place. I mean, we DO lock our doors at night contrary to your popular belief.
